Captain Abu Raed is Jordan's first feature film in over 50 years, and is a high quality film with excellent cinematography. It is the story of an old airport janitor who finds a captain's hat in the trash. Some children see him with the hat and assume he is a pilot and beg him for stories, and so he gets pulled into the lives of children in his poor neighborhood. He weaves imaginary stories of his world adventures to offer hope in the face of their harsh reality.
It is mostly a boy film, but has girls appearing throughout the film. He especially gets involved in the life of an abused boy.
I don't think we have any other films from Jordan here. I gotta watch it just because of that. Thanks vidman!

I didn't expect this one to be such a dud. Only 5 likes after a couple of weeks. I guess it has something to do with being more of a boy movie. I will try and do better next time.

I think it's a huge slowdown in participation & visits rather than the film being a dud. My eMule queue is a lot smaller than "normal". Maybe people are keeping their heads down.
This is an excellent film. The janitor is a widower who greatly misses his wife - he speaks to her as if she's still there, when he drinks tea he pours a cup for her too, and says good night to her when he goes to sleep. The neighborhood children are all poor and when they see him with the airline captain's cap he found in the trash they believe he's a pilot and beg him to tell them of his adventures. At first he resists but then decides to brighten the kids' lives with made-up tales and the kids love him. One boy's father is severely abusive and Raed still tries to help the boy even though he'd proved to the other kids that Raed was a janitor and not a pilot.
Well worth the watch. Thanks for this vidman.

Sorry, I guess I live a sheltered life. I'm not impressed with huge mammaries, and most 'show business' people are less than interesting to me.

Thanks vidman, I liked it. Got it elsewhere so I wasn't in your queue.
