Totally stumbled on to this one... :eyecrazy

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2165699/

Synopsis:
imdb wrote:A seven year old girl takes her two year old brother on a voyage through a world of homemade mythologies by using star graphics found on the streets as navigational tools.
Cory McAbee wrote:In response to today’s world I felt an honest portrait of childhood was a necessary thing to pursue. I wanted to offer something positive that was close to my heart.

Carl Sagan once wrote, “somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” He was commenting on astronomy and space exploration. I feel this quote touches on the fundamental spirit of childhood and the random nature of adventure and discovery that fill a child’s day. The greatest explorers and thinkers throughout history were able to retain the qualities of childhood that enabled them to see the world as more than what meets the eye.

Looks to be a daddy's love poem to his children with a runtime of around 52 mins.. :heart I think his daughter, Willa Vy Mcabee as 'Crazy' is just as cute as can be... :heart :heart :heart

Hope we're able to track this one down!

looks like Cory will be taking it to Cali in June at the LA film Festival. So it will be a while before it gets to dvd. Perhaps Cory will upload it to his Vimeo account before then.

Trailer looks good, thanks for introducing 8-)

Impressive prostidigitatin', ptg!!

I guess in this digital and internet savvy day and age virtually [ ;) ] everything seems to pop up online before there's a publicly available hard copy.. *sigh* :|

Anyway, I was checking around and blammo; I found the video posted just where ptg said it would probably show up:
http://crazyandthief.tumblr.com/post/79 ... ief-52-min and http://vimeo.com/88615309 [both seem to be accounts run by Cory..].

Honestly, I don't know how I came across the actual file for the movie: I was trying to create an image file for the image that was on the tumblr webpage for the streaming video. When I went to my desktop [where I save everything to] I found a folder labeled 'Crazy and Thief_Files'. When I opened the folder, there were more folders and in one of those there was a numbered MP4 file that was 315MB's. To my astonishment when I put it into the media player, I found I now had the full length movie... :o

I posted the addys to the vids in case someone is able to d/load a better quality version of this, but as is, it's pretty good.

This movie reminded me a LOT of 'Sabine Kleist, 7 Jahre' and 'Demi-Tarif', in the way it was filmed capturing the children in many natural sequences.. There aren't any OT scenes and there's really no discernible plot line, as the entire film seems to cover the period of a few hours in a day of the life of these two unsupervised children walking the streets of NYC. It almost seems like a documentary exploring how children's imagination can create adventure out of nothing more than a sheet of paper with paint splatters on it.

The kids are cute; the girl, Willa Vy McAbee, has a odd maturity [for a 5yo] in her voice when she talks and her brother [2yo John Huck McAbee, with most of his dialog subtitled for easier comprehension] really does come out with some funny comments... My biggest gripe is that, for some reason, I never really felt connected with the children as I kept thinking about how dangerous it was for them to be doing what they were doing without their parents around.. (In the context of reality of course.. :) )

If you like watching children play, this is a pleasurable way to spend the most part of an hour. :thumbsup
