LOGLINE

The kidnapping and mutilation of three young children creates violent ripples through their small community.

SYNOPSIS

‘They Returned’ is a beautifully touching and unnerving story about the unexplained disappearance of three children, two boys and one girl, and their reappearance three days later in a semi-autistic state. Not even the children themselves are able to help anyone understand what happened. No clues or signs are left, other than the fact that, as we discover later, two of them were mutilated.

As the police carry out their investigation, and the town slowly sinks into a deep state of suspiciousness, small community of children - classroom colleagues of the missing three - run their own parallel search.

Only one person is a potential suspect: the children’s own classroom teacher, recently arrived from another town. He does not help his case when he attempts to make the school psychologist understand that the children were in fact murdered...

THE CAST

As per my other films, I will be working part with non-actors (giving a feeling of realism to certain roles) and also high-level professional actors. In all, the cast will consists of 20 children and 20 adults this time.

Some of the actors will be:

Romina Pinto (who beautifully played 'Sofía' in my film 'Vuelve)
Lauro Veron (who played 'The Count' in Limbo - yet to be released).
And the particularly talented and intense 10 year-old Sol Vicari:

Ivan Noel directed and produced [REL] En Tu Ausencia AKA In Your Absence (2008). Be aware that the website is a "Donate So I Can Make This New Film" site.

According to casting they're looking for 20 children aged 6 to 14.

Official website:
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/they- ... ture-movie

There's a video there where the director discusses his views on film and what he's strived to accomplish with his movies. While it doesn't really give much info about THIS particular film, it is interesting to watch. AND it sort of confirms my theory that this director enjoys making films in the 'coming-of-age' genre with his focus on the children. :thumbsup

This is to be the main child star, Lauro Veron (who was also in 'Limbo'):

But hopefully Sol Vicari has a substantial part:

I'm pretty sure she's in the beginning of the clip that's on the 'Indiegogo' page; falling on a mattress and discussing the scene with the director.. :heart

I wish I had the financial backing and time to take off and be a part of the cast/crew for one of his productions [especially THIS one! :) ], but *sigh* it's not to be.. :(

He's got almost half of his estimated $48,000USD production cost already collected, hopefully he can generate the rest quickly and get the film shot and wrapped in the next year... :pray

Thanks again to donkeykog for turning us onto this director and his work!!

kev.

Thanks Kev/Yoko/Geronimo for bringing this one to MY attention. :D I had not seen this before.

They have raised the money, I wish I had know I would have loved to have been apart of it.....well, next time!

THE CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN A RESOUNDING SUCCESS! THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED.

I want a coming-of-age tale that is full of heartbreak, beauty, life, purity, and raw emotion. Well, they don't get much more raw than in Iván Noel's films. from ‘7 capital films’
$28,000 of $20,000 asked for.

Hot Off The Press!:

For those that have bought or donated to Noel Films, you can buy this on dvd, blu-ray and download until the end of December, then it will be taken down.

For those who did not support Noel Films in the past, you still have good news. London based One Eyed Films has taken international rights to “They Returned". No news on a release date though. And hopefully they do not censor it like was done when "En Tu Ausencia" was bought and distributed. Good news for everybody on "Limbo".
