This was no "accident". An accident is something that happens which you have little or no control over. Leaving a weapon - loaded or not - where a child can get it was NOT an accident, it was gross negligence or willful stupidity. As far as I'm concerned, he might as well have aimed the gun and pulled the trigger himself and he should be prosecuted for it as if he had. Instead, he'll get a slap on the wrist and the baby will have to grow up without his mother.

I don't want to get into a political discussion about the second article - there are other blogs where such things are debated.

Did you notice every kid in these ads has their fingers on the triggers? That's a big time no-no.

I don't blame the kids, I blame the moonbat adults because it's their responsibility to know better. :x

[Image] Compare the six-year-old with Diane Feinstein who is rabidly anti-gun.

[Image] Now look at this family - note where the fingers AREN'T.

Who would you feel safer around?

Agree Phuzzy.

In emulars pics as they are most likely staged, and considering it is a anti-gun article, this is most likely the photographers desire to show irresponsibility.

The second pic by you is nice. And Fienstiens a tool, but obviously laughing all the way to the bank as morons keep electing her.

With the amount of guns sold and owned in the U.S., these idiot cases, like in the article, and mass shootings are rare. But with the advent of the 24 hour news service and their need to sensationalize for viewer-ship, makes it seem like its all the time. Gun crime and deaths have been declining for decades. Most gun deaths are gang related.

That said, that former dad was a moron too storing a weapon in the couch with a toddler.

Feinstein carries a pistol, she just doesn't think YOU should have that right. Of course, guns cause crime, just like forks cause obesity and pencils cause misspelled words. I carry a gun because cops are way too heavy and get upset when you throw them at bad guys at 3000 feet/sec.

That said, any responsible gun owner gets really pissed seeing firearms handled unsafely. Children are perfectly capable of learning correct firearm safety but it's the adult's job to teach and enforce it, no nonsense. "Accidents" are almost never accidental.

I don't think anybody should carry a gun unless he is a cop or something. I don't have a gun, neither do any of the people I know. If I had a gun, it would be obviously loaded, though.

Unfortunately, when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away.

I've never had to draw my weapon and hope I never need to, but I refuse to be a victim. I've taken many hours of training for safe handling, marksmanship, and also when to use - and especially when NOT to use - a firearm (it's nice to have friends in law-enforcement. :) )

Please with respect, play this message with the background music of Last of the Mohican's. While reading I kindley ask you to open in a backround window "Elk Hunt" - Last of the Mohican's Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQGHY5v ... 80&index=3 Wait til the song (not commercial) actually starts then proceed.

Sorry Mims, don't agree. Not sure if I agree with with Phuzz, your message is warbled (only minutes away? So I should wait to be protected?). There is NO place in the world where only cops have guns as there is no real way to prevent a blackmarket even in the UK (surrounded by water). So if law abiding people do not have guns then only cops and bad guys do. And if you don't have protection, and a bad guy is there, hope your negotiating skills are polished until the good guys arrive (unless we have cameras and cops everywhere, which sounds like a great idea! And even then your probably fucked as your putting your life in the hands of gov't workers :P )

And you should have a right to protect yourself from your gov't as well. The U.S. did not win the revolution with pitchforks (Thank you France!). They fought against their govt with the same weapons the gov't had. This was why the 2nd admendment in the U.S. Bill Of Rights was so important. You should have the right to protect yourself not just from your neighbor, but from your gov't (when they overstay there welcome and become tyrannical). Of course by the time you notice they are out of control, they will have long since instituted gun control and disarmed many (unless your smart?).

Thanks guys, this is fun.

We all come here for the love of great "Coming of Age" movies/shows/ and music, but as we have this in common, are like-minded in some ways, it is nice to have a friendly discussion with each other on other topics. Pump some damn blood into this board! :D Thanks again and eagerly wait to here some agreement and dissent!

And happy Independence Day to our U.S. peeps!
