I hope you're not bored of this thread yet, but it continues...
My next release is a restored version of the uncropped recording from german TV broadcasted in 2008 (ratio is 4:3). If you don't know what I am talking about, compare these 2 shots:

The new version is in 1080p and the picture quality is pretty good:
Old (resolution 576x432p, posted before in this thread):

Well, it looks like Paramount won't give us a 1.33:1 open matte version in 4K of this film
Somehow I still managed to get the 7 GB laserdisc rip posted in 2011 on page 4. This version was the best source to start working on it again...
I had to do a lot of color corrections, sharpening, denoising, deinterlacing and some other things to get a viewable picture. The sound of this rip was terrible and in mono and didn't sync with the DVD...
After many many hours of encoding I am pretty pleased with the result. This could be the best version of this movie in 4:3 and uncropped we can get atm:

I hope that you are still not tired from all the different versions of this movie.
BUT:
I found the original and complete mpeg file of the german (uncropped) TV recording in a newsgroup posted about 3000 days ago (and I was able to download it).
As you know me, I couldn't resist to give it another try and I started working on it.
Now, this is the real deal! The result is much much better than my 1080p version posted before (the picture was too dark, it was incomplete because some minutes are missing and the source was an compressed avi file.
So, let's do it for the last time:

I muxed the movie with 2 audio tracks (german and english).
Now, I am pleased with the result and the movie looks very good!
(In view of the fact that the source was a more than 10 years old TV broadcast).
Upscaled and enhanced to Full HD using AI technology, colors corrected and again 2 audio tracks (German and English in sync )

Well, I couldn't resist and I was working on a new version for the last two weeks.
The source was this lousy rip from the laser disc, upscaled with AI to 1428 x 1080p and with completely new colors.
I took the audio from the US blu-ray and from the German dvd and had to make many cuts to get it in sync.
A mega big THANK YOU! goes to Kingfisher for these beautiful colors. You are a magician!
