Well, I guess I will never reshare THAT one again, because I will end up thinking it is yet another case where I Liked a post but did not download it...
Now, if someone wants to donate a 12 TB NAS to me so I can share everything all the time ...
Yes. It's still the same file. You can rename it to whatever you want. It's still the same file hash. You even can rename a file in eMule while downloading it (just pressing F2 on Windows). If you download something for the first time…and 3 people are sharing it on emule..with all having named the file differently..you’re getting the file name from the download you choose from searches?
So in that case you leave it on your NAS with your original preferred minimalist file name, and simply edit the name in the ed2k link that you post on FLM? Am I understanding this right?ghost wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2023 2:50 pm So in the future I can keep my file names and release it under a different name. Pretty cool.
Yep. That's what I was thinking of. It should work.So in that case you leave it on your NAS with your original preferred minimalist file name, and simply edit the name in the ed2k link that you post on FLM? Am I understanding this right?
I think I am going to start naming my emule releases as "Scooby Doo Episode ##" just to exasperate the Scooby Doo fans who unwittingly download it.
My big concern with editing the name in an ed2k link in a post is that non-English characters like "ø" show up with a % around other characters to recode it. Would posting a new name with just a simple copy-paste of non-English characters convert properly in an FLM post? Or would it actually have to be processed in an eMule client? I ask because renaming it in eMule the way that I know how to do it also changes the filename on the harddrive. I have never dared edit an ed2k link in a post itself.
There are too many to do that! You need to have some time for actually watching movies. And don't worry, I'm not going to rename alll my previous releases here in this forum.
I just have to test it. It worked fine with Nonneborn. If I try to download the new link, eMule says the file still exists on my drive. My big concern with editing the name in an ed2k link in a post is that non-English characters like "ø" show up with a % around other characters to recode it. A 12 TB NAS and an extra internet bill!Night457 wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2023 2:32 pm Now, if someone wants to donate a 12 TB NAS to me so I can share everything all the time ...![]()
OMG thank you ghost! I did not know about this feature! I thought I had to wait till it finished downloading (this IS the case in shared directory).ghost wrote:You even can rename a file in eMule while downloading it (just pressing F2 on Windows).
Nah, I am fine with my upload speeds even if others may want it to be better. With a huge drive shared ALL THE TIME, I will never again have to transfer files from an external drive and remove them two weeks later so I can reshare OTHER files. It is totally for my convenience while still sharing the files I would like to share. I would not keep the NON-FLM files on it. Anyone interested in my NON-FLM files can go to hell. They ain't gettin' 'em.
I did? When?Night brings up a good point.
