I don't see them as being anymore exploited than other big-name child actresses like Elle Fanning or Shirley Temple.

I must admit I haven’t even seen Brooke‘s films yet. So I probably should shut my mouth for now, lol. I’ve seen some screenshots and generally I don’t have any issues with nudity, grew up in Europe with nudism etc.

That American prudeness Is foreign to me. I know I wouldn’t let my kid do nude scenes at all on Screen.

It is easy to look for another actress, what is not easy is to address issues such as prostitution, sexual abuse, even child marriage. Pretty Baby does not show it graphically, otherwise it would be CP, no matter how much any actress should do nudity, the only thing they should not be lewd or suggestive enough to be considered pornographic.

The problems with the Americans, any subject, as I had mentioned, is not easy to represent in the cinema as long as it is not crossing limits.

Wow, I’m not American and too young for Brooke Shields having been my childhood or youth crush, so I wasn’t sure about how famous or popular or mainstream she was and is today in the US. I (wrongly) assumed this documentary of hers will just lead to small interviews and appearances on small daytime/morning shows.

„the View“ was already not small but Colbert is big league and he can ask smart and sensitive questions at times. (His own biography is very impressive. I can recommend his appearance on Conan O‘Brien‘s podcast as well as Colberts talk with Anderson cooper about grief.

But how fake news isn't this article. I just saw the documentary and she still stands by pretty baby (and its director and actor) and all her movies, other than "Endless Love". All of that article is BS otherwise.

Also surprising in that documentary they show nude scenes from blue lagoon, and the gary gross pictures but censored.

Why do American media have a problem with child nudity? but when Gary Gross died The New York Times had no problems with including this photo (uncensored) with the obituary.

Perhaps NYT hides behind 'freedom of expression', it can claim it in court but since it is not risqué like other photobooks are considered CP, it is not a double standard, it is clear that artists like Sally Mann or Jock Sturges had struggles in the courts for their works to be considered artistic.

I suppose the general Americans puritan attitudes don't help either where some might say a 10 year old girl in a bath with nipples showing is CP. I'm glad I live in Europe where we a more relaxed attitude to nudity of all ages.

It’s not even just about child nudity with Americans. One of my relatives (also European) has been annoyed for ages by the way American mainstream films and tv shows shoot sex scenes (obviously especially true for network television like NBC,ABC, CBS that „can not“ show nudity) but also regular films. I know it depends on the actress/actor contract and nudity clause as well but still we do cringe when two people are in bed after they’ve had sex and the woman covers herself with the blanket (or even better is already fully clothed under the blankets lol)

The crazy thing is with how much violence and blood/guns/gore films & television can get away but the moment some breast is shown it’s not PG13 anymore or whatever rating they have with movies.

Some of the stuff they’ve shown ob Law&Order (NBC) or Criminal Minds (CBS) in my opinion has been more disturbing than if a boy or girl would see some nude man/woman for a second..

I know a few years ago I visited London around the time we were on a high terrorist alert, and I found it shocking to see armed police in public, but Americans find it shocking to see police that are unarmed. In America they seem to raise children to believe that nudity is a sexual thing and is bad, which probably explains the sex scenes on TV over there.
