If you decide to watch, I hope you enjoy. I had fun working on this and I had fun rewatching it during revision. I am sure you won't find anything completely new here, but it was fun because it was an easy movie to watch, and, most importantly, our main girls get a lot of screen time. Most scenes revolve around Sonya, the 13 year old sister, who is played by Polina Ryashko. Her younger sister, Anya, is played by the super adorable Vitaliya Kornienko. She doesn't get quite as much screen time, but still plays an important character with a good amount of scenes.
There might be an slight issue with the 3.9gb file that's been posted. The quality is pretty good, but it hangs a bit sometimes when you go to skip through areas, especially while it's paused, and especially in the Subtitle Edit program. This added quite a bit more time to my editing that I thought it would.
If anyone knowledgable in Russian is willing to let me know of any improvements, I am happy to implement them. One thing to note, whisper didn't always do a great job translating the Russian, however it did do relatively well transcribing it, and deepL did quite a good job at translating from that.

Uh oh! Do you have any other versions? I thought I was all set when that torrent actually completed.
Although I have zipped through it just now multiple times in VLC (NOT paused) and do not encounter any hang ups, and that is something that DOES happen at times with my old computer. Skipping through while paused seems a strange form of playback, although understandable while translating ... and I do not think the SubtitleEdit video player is the most powerful one out there. I think it is really meant for a few seconds (few subtitles) playback at a time, although I notice it does fine if I just let it play straight. Did you have any issues when you just sat and watched it as a movie outside of SubtitleEdit?
I watched it! Good show. The premise is admittedly absurd, with menacing puppets and a killer puppeteer. But I appreciated that they played the horror straight and not for camp humor. (?) I am not so fond anymore of horrormeisters winking at the audience. At the midpoint when she went BACK to the house, I WAS SCARED! Good old-fashioned chills.
You subtitles were terrific, pillowbaker! A native Russian speaker may very well question some of the translation of course, but the dialog was consistently believable and natural. In the context of a story about an evil puppeteer, that is!

Wow. I think I am REALLY overdue for going through the menus and looking at things like Options/Settings! I did not even know that was there. I noticed that my video engine was set to "mpv" and I don't even know what that is.

That is the one spelling (typing) error I saw too! If between the two of us we only noticed just one, that is pretty darn impressive. I know I have combed over some of my own subtitles (or subtitles I have edited) multiple times, both with SubtitleEdit tools and manually, and then the next time I watch it I am aggravated to see more issues. (Like when I recently rewatched Ronja. I forced myself NOT to fix what issues I saw.)

I will redownload the movie to see if mine ended up slightly different. If this is the case, I hope the timings are the same between the files! In the future, I'll make sure to point out the file specifically that I used. Unsure what issue I had with the file. My SubtitleEdit is pointed to VLC, and has run smoothly for every other video file I've thrown at it.
Thank you for the fixes, ghost. I kicked myself when I saw that typo! How the heck did I miss that, over and over and over? I will have to make sure I use that "fix common errors" option in SubtitleEdit in the future.

This area came out awkward no matter what I tried. I think I captured the general meaning, but I still had trouble wording it, and I am still not satisfied with it. I have a feeling I am missing something here. This is one of those rare areas where whisper's auto-translate option gave better results, which I based my final wording on. Something to the effect of, "let's play together once we get to our new hometown. - It's not much of a town/it's quite a bit different from home."

Particularly in the bold-red area, I had to try to frame the meaning using auto-translation results that made sense as individual sentences, but not as a correspondence of dialogue. Each sentence made sense, but together don't seem to be matching up naturally. So I feel like something is missing that could help provide more context to their banter. This is one of the areas that I struggled with the most and ended up having to come up with something. I kept returning to it to reconsider this exchange of dialogue. Any ideas?
