Brief history of the event

The little body of little Fortuna Loffredo, aged 6, was found lifeless on 24 June 2014, in block 3 of the Iacp public housing blocks near Caivano in Naples. There are many questions and doubts surrounding her death, as well as the coincidences surrounding the death of little Antonio Giglio, aged just 3 years. There are heavy suspicions about Fortuna, shadows that are investing an entire environmental context, as emerges from the hypotheses of crime with which the investigations are being conducted: the investigation is for voluntary homicide, but also for sexual violence. That day, according to reconstructions, little Chicca, as she was called in the family, went from the sixth to the seventh floor, trying to reach Dora, her lifelong friend, sister of Antonio Giglio, who died a year earlier. But his mother prevented Fortuna from entering the house, inviting her to return to the sixth floor because she was washing the floor. From that moment on, it is unclear what happened. In fact, the torn body of a little girl was found on the floor. The autopsy results later confirmed the chronic sexual abuse suffered over a period of time that went from 15 days to two or three months before her death. The investigators are focusing on the environment in which Chicca spent the last months of her life. Weeks during which "unknown people" allegedly used unspeakable sexual violence against her. Abuses that can hardly escape the attention of those who frequent and/or look after a minor. The little girl also suffered from behavioral problems but had no support at school. The work carried out by the specialists of the Carabinieri's RIS was also fundamental. Three specialists, the graphologist Sara Cardella, the psychologist Angela Tibullo and the psychiatrist Margherita Carlini carried out expert assessments on Fortuna's drawings; the results, delivered to the lawyers Angelo and Sergio Pisani, showed the little girl's strong need to be loved and listened to.

On January 6, 2015, during a demonstration against violence against children, in Mariglianella, little Fortuna Loffredo and Antonio Giglio, the children of the Parco Verde in Caivano, were remembered.

The investigations into Fortuna's murder continue. The prosecutor of Naples North Francesco Greco intervenes to reaffirm the will of the investigating office to shed full light on the mystery of the Parco Verde, even now that the investigation has lost one of its leaders, the prosecutor Federico Bisceglia, who died in March 2015 in a terrible road accident that occurred while he was in his car near Castrovillari. The case remains in the hands of Deputy Prosecutor Claudia Maoni, who coordinates the Carabinieri investigations under Greco's supervision.

In January 2019, the life sentence for a man deemed responsible for the murder of little Fortuna Loffredo, raped and thrown from the balcony of the building where she lived with her mother in the Parco Verde di Caivano, became definitive. The man was convicted, in the first and second degree, also for abuse against two other girls. During the investigations, it was discovered and ascertained that the murderer's partner knew about the violence carried out by her man against the girls. The investigations showed that the man had molested not only Fortuna, who he then killed, but also another daughter of the partner and some of her friends. In July 2019, the Court of Cassation rejected the appeal presented by the partner's lawyers, thus making the sentence definitive. The sentence is 10 years of imprisonment for complicity in sexual abuse.

The woman is also previously investigated for the voluntary homicide of her 4-year-old son Antonio, who also fell from the window of his grandparents' home, on the seventh floor of a building in Parco Verde.

In May 2021, the film "Fortuna" was released in theaters, which tells the tragic story of the little girl. The father and the family never agreed and even requested that it be withdrawn. A request that was not accepted.
