Re: Sad/shock ending movies
This is where I watched it on Youtube a long time ago. I used Google translate on the comments to try and get an idea of what was going on. It was before I had even found the FLM forum.Sully23 wrote: Thu Jan 11, 2024 4:16 amPlease show them.marvingray wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 2:04 pm but I got the jist reading the synopsis and the comments on youtube video.

I'd post the comments themselves, but they might be a little too controversial per the rules of the forum as they deal with pretty heavy criticism of religion.

Re: Sad/shock ending movies
Well, I think the opinions are not relevant, especially those pending some moments of the movie.
The criticism of religion is justified by the enormous damage they have done to children.

Sorry, I don't fully understand what you mean, so I'll just say I really enjoyed the movie and it totally fits the thread!Sully23 wrote: Thu Jan 11, 2024 3:05 pm Well, I think the opinions are not relevant, especially those pending some moments of the movie.

Edit are you saying the comments aren't accurate? They seemed to map onto what I saw happening on screen so their explanations helped me understand it better, and at the end of the day art is one of the most subjective experiences.
Anyway, more on topic:
-I Kill Giants (2017) starring Madison Wolfe easily fits the sad ending and possibly shocking if you're half paying attention. FLM link - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=11905&hilit=i+kill+giants
-So B. It (2016) starring Talitha Bateman recently recommended to me by Ghost I enjoyed it but also had a very sad ending imo but it was like Lifetime movie type sad. FLM link - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13854
-Hatching (2022) has a disturbing, sad, and shocking end all in one. FLM Link - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=13713&hilit=hatching
Edit: edited in year and FLM links for these

Re: Sad/shock ending movies
Just about every movie dealing with a relationship between a young girl [prepubescent, adolescent, very early teens] and an older man pretty much ALWAYS has something of a sad ending: [Not shocking or surprising, just notably sad...]
*Lolita (1962)

*Piccole Labbra AKA Little Lips (1978)

*La Femme-Enfant (1980)
*La petite sirène (1980)
*El Nido AKA The Nest (1980) [ACTUAL RELEASE DATE: August 9, 1982]

*X (1986)
*Skyggen af Emma AKA Emma's Shadow (1988)
*L' Enfant d'eau (1995)

*Lolita (1997)
*Mein erstes Wunder AKA My First Miracle (2002)

*Lamb (2015)

*Tench AKA Muidhond (2019)
And, as already mentioned, the hauntingly beautiful:
Les Dimanches de Ville d'Avray AKA Sundays and Cybèle (1962)

kev.

Besides, I don't need any assistance from a movie to feel depressed, that comes naturally. I seek out movies to help me feel better. Of course, some of these movies that are reasonable to interpret as "sad" make ME feel better, because I can usually imagine worse. Like "These Final Hours", about the end of the world. That has a very positive end.
Besides, I am no goat but as mild as a lamb.
