[REL] Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991)
Re: [REL] Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991)
I was not expecting to see anything more, but I noticed it was a topic of discussion. (Well, one post.) I compared your widescreen 1080p with my fullscreen DVD, briefly. It is definitely not open-matte, but it does show more at the top and bottom while still trimming the sides.

*** FULL SCREEN DVD ISO ***
This is NOT Open Matte, because there is still some cropping on the sides when compared to the widescreen version. However, it does have more screen information on the top and bottom from just a quick check. I do not think this will show any more particularly revealing scenes, but it is available for anyone who wants it. [Image][Image][Image]

4.12Gb FULLSCREEN 480p ISO; English or Portuguese audio;
Subtitles in English, French, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese; Trailers.

So, both versions are cropped in some way.It is definitely not open-matte, but it does show more at the top and bottom while still trimming the sides.
Thanks a lot for your DVD, Night457!

Re: [REL] Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991)
Thank you for the full DVD, Night. I've never seen this one. The brightness level seems to be a bit better in the full screen, but that might just be my eyes.
Re: [REL] Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991)
Milla Jovovich is quite appealing, although I confess to preferring the Brooke Shields version ... and the 1949 Jean Simmons version to that one!
I think the 1080p brightness is appropriate for a dark room, like a home theater would be. DVDs did tend to be overbrightened to be right for an overlit living room.

To make it complete: Here's the "second part" of the movie upscaled to Full HD:

Again you have the choice between English and German audio.

Re: [REL] Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991)
That's the common widescreen version again.
Re: [REL] Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991)
The HD fullscreen version is a brand-new Ghost Exclusive™, so Dave's had to be the widescreen. At 2.44Gb it is more manageable for many than deadman's 10.42Gb, which is the widescreen HD version I have. Dave's is called "MULTi", so I am guessing it has both English and French audio, perhaps. Am I right, DaveTheBoss? If so, that kind of information in the post might grab the interest of those who might otherwise overlook it. Lots of people appreciate dubs. Thanks!

Yes indeed, MULTI mostly indicates that the file has the French dub and the original version. With rare exceptions, there may be additional dubbing...Night457 wrote: Mon May 06, 2024 8:18 pm Dave's is called "MULTi", so I am guessing it has both English and French audio, perhaps.
