Classic French film about a young country girl, played by 11-year-old Madeleine Desdevises, who willingly lets herself be kidnapped by an older boy named François. The two of them forge an unusual bond that seems normal to them but not to anyone else.

This bluray rip contains the original English subs from the disc. They are not hard coded though, if you happen to speak French you can always turn them off.

Such a tragedy what happened to Madeleine Desdevises. She got sick with leukemia shortly after the release of La Drôlesse and died at age 15. This was her only film.

I always thought this girl was cute even if the plot line was unbelievable. A geeky nerd kidnaps an 11-year-old girl for no apparent reason, she doesn't try to escape, even at the very first before she gets to know him, and she takes none of the many opportunities to escape he gives her. Then she tells him she wants him to make a baby with her, oohlahlah.

Believe it or not this movie was based on an actual case in rural France. I don't know the details, I'm sure not every part of the film mirrored real life exactly, but it was apparently close enough. If you didn't know the Amanda Knox case actually happened you'd probably think it all came from the tawdry imagination of some daytime soap writer. The world is a crazy place!
