[REL] Sweetwater (1988)
Re: [REL] Sweetwater (1988)
I actually made two separate video encodes from the 1080p BDRemux. This one is a little larger than the one I first posted, and it uses the Norwegian DTS audio from the 720p 10.86Gb BDRrip. So if you want a higher bitrate on the video and/or DTS audio rather than AAC, then this is an alternate option. MEGA links only. [The delay in posting this is because I actually WATCHED both of my encodes.]

Does higher bitrate mean it's higher video quality?

Re: [REL] Sweetwater (1988)
Higher bitrate just means more bits (larger file size). One hopes those bits are used to store more detailed video information, increasing quality. But those bits could just as easily be wasted, causing bloat.
If you take something like a VHS source. Those usually don't compress very well so you need to set aside a lot of bits to store the data even though it doesn't look nice.

Everything DreamScape says is true.
In this case, I made both encodes from the 32gb BluRay Remux. THAT version would have the highest video quality available and any encode would be somewhat less -- but most people don't have the drive space to store many such large files. I made both encodes using the same software and the same video codecs, so the one with the higher video bitrate SHOULD be a little higher quality. Whether that is actually visible to the viewer, I don't know. I did not sit down and compare using a high quality monitor. The larger file also has DTS audio, which is typically higher quality than AAC. However, that DTS audio was a lossy conversion from the Norwegian BluRay's DTS-HD MA 2.0 stereo ("Digital Theater Sound, High Definition Master Audio) which is lossless and would be the highest audio quality possible from the original film source. Again, whether the average listener would notice is debatable.
EDIT: The Italian FLAC audio in the 32Gb version is lossless and should be the same quality as the original lossless BluRay audio.
I made the larger one first but it was larger than I was aiming for, so I then made the smaller second one. I decided to go ahead and share the larger one also on MEGA only because MEGA accounts cost me nothing. I deleted the 32Gb and the 10Gb files entirely after I was done, because I just bought my next 4TB hard drive only 5 months after starting the last one. I fill them up too fast!

Thank you, Night, for the different options for the Sweetwater movie. I can now comfortably dump all the other options I found last year and finally get your HD encode. I suppose I'll still keep the one from CG, which I have been seeding since I downloaded it years ago.

Re: [REL] Sweetwater (1988)
THANK YOU for explaining "bonus points" DreamScape!! Site FAQ reading wore me out. The one thing that saves me on FNP is that some files are "free" including anything over 30Gb, so I do not need to then reshare 30Gb+ to keep my ratio up. This is a good thing because I am "sharing" a 60Gb Remux and my actual portion shared is only 687mb.

Continuation of rant.
I tried to relate it a little to Sweetwater. Just a bit.
