In order for the same seven images: ibb | imagebam | imagevenue
The ibb images have disappeared. Imagebam and imagevenue images are still visible to me in my post.

I have done experimenting with with the automated "Add image to post (hosted at postimages.org)" and they are still disappearing. Ones I post remain visible to ME across days as long as I use the same browser and do not delete the cache. However, they are NOT visible to others and the whole point is sharing them. I have read other people's posts with postimages shortly after they went up and their images are not visible.

Therefore I suggest instead using an alternate reliable image hosting site, which MAY be imagebam or imagevenue or something else; OR use FLM itself as the image hoster by posting your images as attachments. Thank you.

NOTICE: FLM ADMIN has disabled the "Add image to post (hosted at postimages.org" posting option until further notice, due to our images disappearing from postimages.org. See previous posts for discussion.

If you want to share images in your posts and do not know how, there are two options.

Method 1.
a. Click "Full Editor & Preview" to start a post.
b. Click "Attachments" at the bottom of the post.
c. Click "Add files".
d. Select one or more image files from your computer. Not all formats are supported.
e. After they have all loaded, position the cursor where you want them in your post and Click "Place inline" separately for each one. You can edit text around the images and use "Preview" to see how they will appear. You can also load images singly and compose your post around each image one at a a time.
f. Click "Submit" when you are done.

OR
Method 2.
A. Upload images to a reliable site of your choice. See this thread for suggestions.
B. Click "Full Editor & Preview" to start a post.
C. Copy the "BBCode" for the uploaded images and paste them in the post where you want them. Alternately, individually copy the URLs from your image upload site and paste the URLs in the post surrounded by IMG tags. Like this: [Code] D. When you are done editing your post, Click "Submit".

I have used Method 1 for some time because of previous problems with Postimage. The images are saved at FLM and not vulnerable to losses because of rules on some other site.

I had taken to using the site freeimage because it didn't compress images and loaded fast. But one day every picture I'd uploaded to that host was taken down at once. A set of images I had just uploaded but not yet posted to the board was also deleted. Which means they likely identified all my files by originating IP address.

The fact that this has also happened with postimage and imgbb within a short span of time suggests our board is being targeted. I don't know if there's any way to identify suspicious usage patterns among new members but one of them is probably a self appointed crusader who's reporting stuff. We're not breaking any laws - but you don't have to. Hosts that don't actively toe the free speech/privacy line often err on the side of caution when they get repeated complaints and just take content down.

Can you attach images to a post here without having them all appear in a lineup after the body of your post? I'd love to have all the pics in my preview grids uploaded directly to the board so I never have to reup them again. But I don't want all the thumbnails and all the larger images in a long single file column at the bottom. That's what I get when I try it. Is there a way to suppress that display? It seems to me the best way around fickle image hosts is to store them all in house, so to speak. There are very few large image galleries on this site. It might be manageable. Although the server hosting us may want more money if we're going to be using more storage. The admin will have to speak to that.

My own paranoia suggested that it was AI-powered copyright detection bots: they can identify a 1/24th of a second image from a copyrighted film and call it "copyright violation" despite long-standing legal precedent of "fair use". But you have given me something to think about, and another excuse for me to be paranoid.

Yes, read this part:

If you do NOT "Place inline" at the cursor position where you want an image, THEN it will appear at the end of the post with the word ATTACHMENTS above it. If that is where you want it anyway then it is less work.

I might be misunderstanding you, but here goes: If your image is a thumbnail grid such as can be generated by MPC, that also counts as a single image and will be displayed as such when posted as an Attachment. The one disadvantage of Attachment images is that smaller images can NOT be rearranged in a self-created grid as can be done with PostImage. As far as I can tell, you can NOT have 3 individual small images in a line across the screen left-to-right.* The next successive image will be on the next "line" down no matter its size. They can be positioned where you want them in the post but they can not display left to right, unless you go through the tediousness of joining multiple images into one single image using Paint or the like. (I don't suggest doing that work.)

*But hey if admin or Admin knows better, speak up or PM me.

It was "admin" who directed me to using Attachments for hosting images in the first place, which may have been during a previous issue with Postimages. I suspect that Image galleries do NOT take up as much storage capacity as you might imagine. Hosting VIDEOS could (would) be an issue for server space. A thirty-minute 1080p video might be, what, 600Mb? The Maximum filesize per attachment here is 2 MiB. JPGs are much smaller than that. If you decide to post 300 PNG images in a single post you just might find them quickly deleted, 'cuz I sure as heck don't want to scroll through that many even once! (Note, when YouTube videos are posted in the Music Videos section that is just a link to YouTube so the videos are not actually stored HERE.) If the storage of images onsite becomes an issue then maybe a maximum number of attachments per post will be implemented. But honestly I don't think it will be a problem.

If admin anonymous has different ideas or reassurances he can PM me and I can relay the message to our FLM public.

Yes, I'm talking about the 3 x (usually) 5 grids of preview pics I tend to post with my releases. Each of the small images can be clicked on to open a full sized one in another tab. I tried replacing the hotlinked images from the third party host with ones added to the post as attachments. It didn't work so well. And I couldn't stop them from all being repeated one by one at the end of the post under "Attachments".

So you're saying there's definitely no way to take this:

[Image] [Image] [Image]
[Image] [Image] [Image]
[Image] [Image] [Image]
[Image] [Image] [Image]

and substitute attached images while keeping the same display format?

Sorry for the bad news, that IS what I am saying. (To the best of my knowledge, that is.) Your Release posts are a model of perfection and obviously composed with care, so I KNOW this is a huge drawback for you. :(

Credit to deadman for discovering that

20 is the MAXIMUM number of Attachments allowed in one post.

Your statement is not unusual.
In fact someone wrote forums about girls wearing strange outfits at a carnival in Spain or the organisation seeking to close dance schools that promote sexualisation, now I must assume that there are bodies against the film industry promoting the use of child actors and forums like FLM and others because we do things wrong.

We have already seen Youtube censoring documentary The Kwaio and when I uploaded the short film Le silence d'abord even though it does not contain OT but the scene because they see that it is 'child safety'.

Could this be tweaked? If it were, say, 40 then even the most image heavy post I've ever made would be covered. And what about suppressing the automatic display of attachments that weren't Placed Inline?

The attachment feature obviously wasn't intended to be used this way when it was created. But third party filehosts are fickle and unreliable. postimage deletng everything is a major blow. How many pages of this are we stuck with now?

If we could attach all our images, they'll probably be online for the lifetime of this board. We won't have to worry about idiots flagging pictures to get them taken down or hosts simply going away (often without warning). Perhaps Ghost can tell us what changes are possible, how flexible the software is and what he's able to modify.

On June 12, 2022 I did a backup of all embedded images, so images that were available at that time can be restored (but they won't be clickable to full size). At the moment I am busy with other stuff, but I hope I can look into it within a week.

If anybody by any chance has a list of newer images in the form of (url -> image file), it would be helpful.
