The girl in the mirror is my favoritemarvingray wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 8:56 am Been watching this movie lately with subs. Quite the colorful cast of characters. The little psychotic redhead might be my favorite. The timid girl's reaction to her "chopping" the fish by the lake was pretty funny.

Yes she's lovely i believe she is named Anka (unless her reflection goes by a different name, maybe Akna?)

Her mirror universe twin is named [Image], and she's just as beautiful as Anka (but backwards).

And both of them are nice enough to let us see how beautifully they are growing up!deadman wrote: Wed Apr 24, 2024 5:42 am Her mirror universe twin is named [Image], and she's just as beautiful as Anka (but backwards).

I always thought that the scene where Anka is in front of the mirror was edited. At a certain point, both the video and the background music have an abnormal "jump". If I'm not mistaken, the only version of the film available is the one broadcast on Polish TV, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was censored when it was first broadcast. Am I too suspicious? What do you think?

Where is the glitch? I don't see it. It's also hard to imagine what they would've censored, considering how much they didn't censor.
If you're suggesting there might've been a part that came before that mirror scene, say with Grazyna in the shower or just a few seconds of zooming in from a distance where we can see more of her, anything's possible - but I tend to doubt it since 1h 21m is the theatrical length listed on IMDb and it's also the length of the file we have.

The abnormal jump is when she is looking at the mirror, her hands move to her hips (you see it for a short frame reflected in the mirror) and then the image moves to her face (with her looking at her lower body). It is obvious, what else she could show. The background music also seems to "jump" to me.deadman wrote: Sat Nov 30, 2024 2:02 am Where is the glitch? I don't see it. Please note that Imdb has two different lengths of the film in meters: 2,268 m and 2,304 m (for East Germany).
This is confirmed by the Defa website, which shows that the version released in East Germany was 85 minutes long.

Moreover, Swedish Film Database (which I have always found to be a reliable source, not only for Swedish films) has a running time of 83 minutes for the original version and 86 for the one released in Sweden.

Anyway, this is just a guess, thanks for your opinion.

Hmmm ... that's interesting. I don't know if there was anything there but it's certainly possible.
Your link does indicate an 86 minute running time for the Swedish version, however it also gives a 24 fps frame rate (the video we have is 25 fps). That could account for the difference.
None of this means the scene wasn't trimmed of course. We'd need those other versions to compare it to. They could've cut part of it out. Or if the original film showed her full frontal nudity they might've zoomed in and cropped out everything below the waist. Don't know what broadcast censorship rules are like in Poland (or were when this was shown).

I doubt we'll ever find the alternate versions, but it makes me think that two nations (Sweden and East Germany) that have always been less prurient about child nudity have shown longer versions.deadman wrote: Sat Nov 30, 2024 7:31 am
