It would be useful
Yes it would... tfw ghost makes an awesome release and you have to go through the rigmarole of emule program download, going to emule security for the nodes.dat file (known hijacked LEA), then trawl through to peerates and MANUALLY put the active servers (.met) in one by one into emule.... erghh lol

I notice that it says "Failed to connect to all servers listed. Making another pass."
So whatever is preventing server connection is the problem we can look into.

Would you be willing to take some more screenshots so we can at least TRY to help, before you give up on eMule?

1) eMule / Options / Connection
2) eMule / Options / Server
3) eMule / Servers - entire page with your IP:Port: addresses covered over for privacy

I use Microsoft Paint to cover the IP addresses on the Servers page. There are other image editors you can use.
You can use "Add images to post (max file size 2 MB" at the bottom of our Post Full Editor to load images from your computer as it may be easier. (Ibb.co uploads work fine if you want to still use that.)
Sample images from my eMule client below. Click on them to enlarge in another tab.

Even without more screenshots, I can ask a few questions:

A) During Setup, did you Test Ports in Options / Connection for you chosen ports?
B) In the Servers tab, did you Update Server.met from URL?
For example, use this address in the box: [Code] *** INPUT OR SUGGESTIONS from other FLM Members who use eMule is ABSOLUTELY WELCOME. ***

I must say, as a plug-and-play computer user, this is all very confusing. I do have three questions, if somebody can help a newbie.

1) My VPN provider (ExpressVPN) explicitly says "forwarded ports are not protected by the VPN." Ummm, what? What's the point of a VPN then?

2) In the June 2022 update to eMule, the writer recommends Mullvad. Does Mullvad operate differently? That is, does it protect forwarded ports while ExpressVPN does not? Or I am just confused?

3) Since that post was written, Mullvad no longer supports forwarded posts. Is there another best choice then?

Thanks in advance.

I am not a tech expert but I can answer one (and a half) of your questions.
Hopefully a tech expert will answer the rest.

Port-forwarding is increasingly rare with VPNs. The two that I know of are hide.me and AirVPN.
Here is a thread about hide.me and port-forwarding: https://www.first-loves.com/forums/view ... hp?t=16036

I myself have used AirVPN for a few years. When my paid plan is closer to expiration I plan to try hide.me as an alternative.

I can hardly blame you for your confusion. I see your post from over 8 years ago about your frustration dealing with changing router settings for eMule. Ultimately I concern myself more with trying to get something to WORK rather than to actually UNDERSTAND it when it does. I recognize my own limitations.

Thanks. (I had forgotten that I posted 8 years ago, but I remember trying eMule then, with a different computer, different router, different apartment, etc., and also hitting roadblocks. I had hoped that I had become smarter since then. It seems not.)

I wouldn't let the lack of port forwarding stop you from setting up eMule. I continue to use Mullvad two and a half years after they dropped support (has it been that long already?) and haven't had too many issues as a low-ID citizen.

If the file is shared on FLM, you can simply ask for help. But usually Night replies to me saying they are stuck at the same place I am.

Thank you for posting your encouragement, DreamScape. ABSOLUTELY eMule is worth using even with LowID!!! There are many eMuling FLM members who only have LowID.

I'm having a new and unexpected issue: I'm unable to paste links into eMule. If I search and find for a movie inside eMule (in the search window) then I can move the displayed links to the transfer window and start downloading, but most of the times the search doesn't find what I'm looking for even if I leave it searching for a week or so. (I try more than one server and have KAD enabled).

This happens only on my son's PC, which is the only one I currently use for downloading due to my metered traffic credit at home (10 GB per month). At home eMule works seamlessly and I even have High ID.

I checked all the eMule settings and didn't notice anything wrong. However when running it a UAC warning shows up: "Allow eMule to make changes in system configuration" (or something like that; the actual message is in Spanish) even if I set the UAC to allow everything.

I may ask my son to reinstall Windows 10 but that would be a major issue for him since he and his wife have so many apps installed and configured to their needs. They depend on this PC for their jobs.

Any ideas?

I guess you are affected by Chrome upgrade like several other users. Please try https://www.first-loves.com/forums/view ... 39#p118739
