It is to ensure NAT/firewall settings always point to his computer, otherwise he will get LowID if his computer gets/uses different IP.
Yes, that makes sense. I have also configured my router so that all devices in my local network always receive the same IP address.
@ghost, aren't you using VPN anyway!?
Yes, but I also can run eMule without a VPN and with a High ID.

I don;t have any devices in my network. I didn;t even known to mention it, as I didn;t knew it was a factor. So if that would help and not expose me to any external danger, maybe we should do it? (if yes, how?)

Also, I don;t use VPN, but I deduct from your posts it is a good think. Can someone reccomend VPN for use? Thank you
It is why I wrote about two options: static IP or static lease to ensure your computer always have the same IP to have HighID without getting interfered by your other devices.

If you worry about external danger, then you should not do port forwarding, unless you find IT security and port forwarding comfortable.

Port forwarding does not mean all your devices in network expose to the internet unless you purposely configure it.
It may be a possible your devices get attacked from the computer you use for eMule if the security is joke.

You should give it a thought.

This is the third time I've downloaded eMule because my old PC from 2009 broke down. I bought my new PC on Amazon. It has Windows 11 Professional, 8 GB of RAM, and 236 GB of storage space. If I had bought a 1 TB PC, I would have been very satisfied, but that's fine. Even though my new PC doesn't have a DVD burner, it's more than enough for me.

Oh I forgot, for the third time I managed to set it up.

I do not care for burning discs but sometimes I like to rip them.

I needed the burner to burn movies, TV series, and short films, to store them as an archive, which I like. Now, since my laptop doesn't have a burner, I'm forced to download movies in their original quality and convert them all to 360p to reduce the GB. Too bad, but I'm satisfied anyway. :)

Years ago I bought an inexpensive external DVD burner (~25 USD) which connects to my laptop via USB. It has served me well and I have even used it this week. The problem is, I do not know about the availability and cost of such things NOW. (EDIT: checked Amazon and they still exist, at similar prices!) And I know that more laptops do not even have USB ports. If your laptop has a USB port and you want to archive movies on a physical device rather than online "in the cloud" then using an external hard drive is also an option. I know they are not cheap. But if I compare 300 files / 3 GB each stored on a 1 TB drive versus stored on 300 DVD-Rs, I can justify the cost for myself. And it saves a lot of space!

Idk if this is the place to ask questions but... I tried emule a few months ago and had big problems with it so I gave up using it

I decided to try it out again.. I'm trying to download something as like a trial run to see if emule works for me better this time

The downloading isn't happening... It just comes up as a red bar

I can't even finish responding to your FLM posts and messages and you already have the damn thing installed???? I can't keep up!

Anyway... Yes this is the right place to ask questions. Reading through at least some of the installation instructions can help. NOT all 42 pages of repetitiveness, just the few pages of tutorial.

Assuming it is installed correctly, attempt a link from a recent eMule post and if possible one that has been stated to be a speedy download. If you are trying to download an emule file from 2008 it just might not be currently shared and not be a good test.

Also you must give it some time to start. After that, we can check what issues you might have.

I am trying to download a emule file.. Been like that for the past 5-10 minutes or so and nothing is happening

The link I'm trying is from the short film Brasier (which is on page 1 in the release section)
