I thought it strange that most of the episodes of a TV series would be available but only a few were region-restricted.

But yea, I wish videos would still show up when they are Geo-Restricted (You just can't play the video)

It is only in playlists that they disappear, right? If they are a stand-alone video they still are there? I think that is what I have experienced. It does make it harder to figure out the correct VPN Server if the actual individual video URL is hard to find! Maybe doing a YouTube search on what episodes seem to be missing from a playlist will reveal them standalone yet unwatchable in a given region.
