Nice, thanks tolsty! And thanks once again for the subs, Night! I went ahead and read the imdb description and this movie looks really cute.

Russian and machine-translated English subtitles:
Девочка из города (1984) FHDTV-English&Russian.zip
Quoting myself from another post:
VLC does not play external subtitles with TS files. (It will not play the TS file for me either, unless I remove the subs!) You can convert the TS file to an mp4 or mkv, or use another player that works playing external subs with TS. Supposedly MPC-HC and PotPlayer will play the subtitles, and I know that various blu-ray players and TVs do also.
Cool! At least there are subs at all! :P

It plays just fine for me in VLC but NOT if the subtitles I provided are in the same folder. You have to use a different player to use the subs, which prevent VLC from playing the file at all.

If you do not have the subtitles then I do not know what the problem is.

VLC has issues with video transport stream files. Try another program like MPC media player.

This film was recently recommended on TNT. Anyone still have tolsty's file? emule works for me if you have high-ID, otherwise I probably need a download link

Tolsty's TS file; with Russian SRT; with English SubtitleCat machine-translated SRT: [Code] I am sharing it on eMule with my LowID.

Keep in mind that TS files and SRTs do not play together in VLC. Use something like MPC instead. The subtitles are also Attached in one of my previous posts. Bloodhound1st's rutracker version is a very fast download so it can be easily compared. It is a smaller file and also has a watermark. They have slightly different color grading. I think tolsty's file has somewhat better quality, as I saw digital blockiness while fast-forwarding through the rutracker video.

Everyone please note, I am always grateful when people provide alternate sources. My personal evaluation of video quality is simply my own opinion of the video and is no reflection on the people providing it.

Simply remux it with MKVToolNix and your problems are gone.

Spoiler:

Everyone uses VLC because everyone says VLC is the best video player. I never liked it. - And it is ugly.

Spoiler:

I use VLC because I prefer the UI, menu layout, and shortcuts, but MPC has fewer compatibility issues and is probably the best.
