I am in the U.S. and it told me to get stuffed! Well, maybe Australia shares programming with France so they are allowed in. Sharing is good. Maybe my VPN automatically changed the link to one that allows the English subtitles like you did manually. WHY that would be I have no idea! Glad you figured it out.

Idk, I feel if I can access a france video, US should have no problem accessing it either
