In the BTS clip we see multiple takes of a version of the scene where the group of boys pull off her swimsuit while she tries to stop them. It's choreographed with a little improvisation that makes each run through slightly different - but for example when Nina gets pushed down you can see she's actually dropping to the ground herself, they didn't want her getting injured.
The broken strap was not an accident they decided to leave in. It was a toned down version of what the director initially intended the scene to look like. For whatever reason the version where the boys wrestled the suit off of Nina was canned in favor of what we see in the final version: the strap is broken, and she removes the swimsuit herself rather than having it pulled off.

This was set during the rise of Mussolini in Italy, at a time when Germany was still under the Weimar Republic government. That fascist hostility to foreigners was a harbinger of things to come in the Fuhrmanns' own country, but here and now it was new to them. Little Sophie was the victim of a bullying prank to humiliate her. What the reaction of the adults showed us is that the boys hadn't adopted that behavior on their own, but picked it up from their parents and the culture around them.

This thread got bumped recently. It reminded me again that we still don't have a good quality version of this film.
Now we have.

Beautiful work, ghost! One of the best upscales from SD that I've seen
Re: [REL] Mario und der Zauberer (1994)
I immediately connected to multiple HighID sources including ghost, so y'all out there should take advantage of the wide interest and join in if you are interested too. Don't take this the wrong way ghost, but with a new look at your last version prompted by this recent discussion I was wondering about your new software and what possibilities it would bring... Thanks much!

Weird, I'm curious to know why Deadman's file (7gb) is larger than Ghost's file (5gb)
As far as i know, Deadman's file isn't even FHD (I could be wrong)

Ghost's file is 1080p FHD. Deadman's file is a PAL DVD9, 576p. The older codecs used in DVDs (mpeg-2) take relatively more space than the more efficient H264 or H265 codecs used for 1080p.
