Sumala, a name that is feared by people in a village in Semarang Regency from the past until now. No one dares to go out when night falls because Sumala will come to kill.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31592660/reference/

This movie, based on an Indonesian urban legend, stars 11 yo Makayla Rose Hilli in the dual role of the kind hearted disabled Kumala and the vengeful spirit of her dead sister Sumala, who acts through her to bring utter mayhem to her small village. Her sterile mother it seems made a pact with the devil in order to conceive. She was to bear two girls, one human, one ... something else, and raise them both until the age of ten at which point Satan himself would return to claim his daughter and the rest of the family would live happily ever after. But the woman's husband decided to kill the hideously malformed twin instead. And breaking a deal with the devil has consequences.

Truly one of the most over-the-top insane films I've seen involving children. The main character misbehaves in unexpected ways. The general taboo on preadolescents and graphic violence, both receiving and dispensing, is nowhere to be seen here. Young Kumala slices and dices her peers with gleeful abandon. Makayla delivers a performance worthy of Jack Nicholson - I was almost expecting her to say "Heeeere's Johnny!" in one scene.

This file contains subtitles in both the native Indonesian and English. Buckle up and enjoy!

That's actually where I found it. It was offered as a suggestion based on my having watched an Indonesian zombie flick a few weeks ago. I went online looking for a web-dl or bluray download after watching this on Netflix. So sure, you can watch it there too. One thing I do love about Netflix: everything on your menu is included with the subscription. They never make you pay extra like Amazon often does.

Can I just say right now how silly online rentals are? It's a throwback to Blockbuster and having to return tapes. Be kind, rewind! What exactly are you renting that needs to be returned on a streaming platform?
