on imdb the name is different and there're 2 Sayoko girls Sayoko Yamaguchi and Hanae Kan....so which is the right??? :wall :wall :wall
They play the character at different ages, Hanae Kan, who is 10, playing the younger version.

Seems like we missed a 1080p version coming out about a year ago
https://www.limetorrents.fun/Pisutoru-o ... 28521.html
This lists a 7.3gb torrent that came out 1 year ago - but because of this I don't think it's going to download. So did anyone get this or another HD rip?
That's odd though as https://rarelust.com/pistol-opera-2001/ only lists a 1.3gb 476p version (4pixels cropped off a NTSC DVD)

The film has an entry here which nobody has mentioned?: https://sensitivecontent.info/movie.php?id=246

Scroll down the page to Torrent file content. I am afraid that torrent is a DVD9. Also here:

Rutracker has a Seeded DVD9, with Russian audio added in with the original Japanese and optional English subtitles:

Ah dam. Well done for finding out the torrent info. Given it was recent was thinking it might have been a HD release. It must be a double-layer DVD, that would at least mean it's great quality encode with good data rate for upscaling. Dual layer DVDs are 8gb max, single layer are 4.5gb max

I completed my AI upscale. Thanks Night for the source!
I only pushed it to 720p (DVD was only 480p being NTSC, not 576p). So a 50% gain looked good. Looks so much better than the DVD, upped the sharpness to. Included the english subtitles. Will post shortly.

Some screenshots while it uploads... and note it's only a 4:3 ratio film - it's not widescreen!

Here's a good before / after comparison of the improvement a good de-interlace and Topaz Upscale can do with good control of sharpness.
Some of the diagnonal lines on the DVD had bad aliasing - if you look at the building in the before. Also the picture was too soft.[Image]

I will add the film is weird, and the girl doesn't appear that much. But maybe if you like Japanese films, or want to see a weird Kill Bill type film then check it out. It's got good style, and great cinematography in places. A bit like a 4:3 ratio, low budget "Hero".
