Well, even though I'm not too sure about Vista, I really like the below computer. The screen is huge, the price is nice, plus comes with a remote device.

HERE!

If I find something similar with Blu-ray, I'll opt for that, but then I figure the computer was designed for that, and not necessarily media software and devices.

Nothing wrong with acer notebooks. Plentiful (& relatively cheap) in the UK. I've got one..........runs like a dream since junking Vista & installing my trusty 'massaged' version of XP :)

Wow, the HP DV7 is fast! It took 25 minutes for my old Presario to load this video I'm working on in Movie Maker. It took my HP under 10 seconds. It transferred 1.5 gigs from my shitty Walmart media card in under a minute. I've been living in computer hell and didn't even know it. Of course, now I am in Vista Hell, but making some progress finding codecs and drivers to run my old XP equipment. Some thing will need to be replaced I guess.

Whatever you buy, it will be obsolete in a few months.

That’s why I cant be assed with this blu ray shit etc.
The experts are only giving it 5 years before its replaced with something else.

The public are seriously being sucked in by marketing these days.

I literally want to cry when I see all those poor saps buying new HD LCD TV's in the superstores.
I just feel for them so badly.
8 Months and they will want the 3000000:1 ratio one, or whatever the f*** it will be.

HD LCD TV's, no council tenants wall should be without one :)

Oops, I kinda went off on one there :onfire

I'm with you on the blasted widescreen issue. :wall On my 4:3 monitor and TV, the video appears narrower and narrower. 4:3, 5:4, 16:9, 2.2:1, 2.4:1,... :wall :wall :wall Pretty soon we'll have video that resembles the scrolling marquee we sometimes see along the bottom of the screen for advertising purposes. :( :bigups

You're describing "the lesser peace." An economic-political peace. We only see it for its material value right now. Big business getting bigger; people going faster, wasteful, single-mindedness. All these things pave the way to a super race of people. The faster, more easily we function as a people, the closer we'll become. :bigups

Actually I think this craziness only serves to keep people in the compounds of there own home, creating less and less “real” contact with people.

I think the funniest thing is this WII consol.
People are actually buying into the scam that it keeps them fit, where as in reality, it takes them further away from nature.

I’m telling you now, life is about to change in a big way.
All this material stuff is just temporary, and when the blackouts start and PC’s eventually become unusuable, suicides rates will go through the roof.

Couple that with the fact that countries are borrowing money that cannot possibly pay back, and we have ourselves a serous problem.

Start learning to be self sufficient now!!

Here endeth my jolly rant
