Have you listened to the lyrics? Its not about living for or dying for someone. Its about communication; whether they know how you feel about them. Its an ethic to live by, if you are fortunate enough to find someone you care about deeply.Life insurance is based on similar reasoning. Why take out a life insurance policy - you'll be dead, won't you?
EDIT: YouTube abounds with versions that are NOT sung by Garth Brooks.
