i've always set my files unhidden in explorer,there must be some other reason i'm not getting the second link.the only hidden files i've got are system files.would it not be internet explorer settings that might hide something?

If your settings are hiding system files this will be hidden too.
For some reason, although the file is intact & OK it shows up as a hidden file. In Windows Geriatric it's under Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View & then check box for 'Show hidden files & folders'

redownloaded it and this time i see the shadow file,i didn't change any settings though,maybe my eyesight is worse than i thought,or possibly being a bit retarded today.either way...cheers for being patient.

I tried editing/joining this with avidemux when I noticed a slight overlap but it was having none of it, informing of a problem with appending. Glad I gave up as starfish has done the honours.

This one should appease phuzzy as the perpetrator seems to get his just desserts!

Yes, the 2nd part was hidden for some reason, but it was there.

idler, I don't see any such problem --- vlc appears to play it fine, though I haven't watched it all. I can see part 2 start to play ok and then I can skip to the very end and see the credits starting before it ends. What player fails on it?

So I might as well release it, if someone sees the problem and repairs it I can unshare the original.
