I know these are only Posting Guidelines & possibly they need slightly strengthening but I don't have a problem understanding the following.....
Although a certain degree of latitude can & should be applied, surely blatant & persistent posting of off-topic material should either go to the graveyard or simply be deleted. I know it's fashionable around here to criticise the former FLM & how it was run but it seemed to work well enough then.A film does not have to be primarily about children and they don't need to be the central characters, but they must be more than mere 'props'. In other words, if the children in a film could be removed without changing the plot or they're only shown for a minute or two, the movie probably isn't FLM material. In general, kids should have at least 10% screen-time.
'Children' includes kids up to the age of 16. Many children's roles are played by actors or actresses older than that, but if the characters they play are 16 or younger, that's acceptable.
Addressing the question of amateur YouTube shorts as discussed in another thread I also don't have a problem understanding the following.....
There was a post from Rich or maybe Ghost that I can't find from many years ago stating that home-made clips would not be welcome here because it wasn't felt appropriate to clutter up the forum with garbage from kids who basically had zero talent. Yes, the current crop can be amusing/cute & are of a far more professional production but in the absence of a recognised classification should not really be here. While it probably does no harm to show links to YouTube clips/down load sites etc in a relevent section our criteria for a valid release is an ed2k link & as such one should not be generated in these cases.Films and videos must be commercially made - home movies, home-made YouTube videos, or other amateur-made films aren't valid. Generally, if a film is listed at any of IMDb, RareFilmFinder, Lost Movies Archive, Children in Cinema, CVMC, or a country's film board, it's okay to post.
