Synopsis:
life in Uganda for Phiona (9 years) is a continuous struggle. The little girl sells vegetables for the streets of Katwe, one of the ghettos poorest of Kampala, and do not go to school. His mother Harriet, a woman from the strong temperament, works hard to maintain the family, loves his children but is consumed by the uncertainty of not being able to give them a better life. To do so will be Robert Katende. The man teaches children chess in the Church of agape to refine their minds. Chess stimulate abstract thinking and creativity, skill that will prepare them to a normal education and a better life. When a day Phiona follows his brother Brian in church, Katende notes to teach children the basics of chess. This time will mark the fate of Phiona.
