Well, ok, I tried. Despite being in French, these were harder to make than just about anything else I've made so far. I can't tell if it was the abundance of whispers, garbled dialogue, possibly some regional variation, but I struggled with nearly every line, and it shows. Ok, maybe I didn't try hard enough.

The subs don't seem to add much to the understanding of what's going on, aside from learning exactly what they came up with their invented identity.
Despite having a clearly written plot synopsis, I am still a little unsure of what's happens after the halfway point and nearer to the end.

For anyone willing to look into further fixing my work, I am readily willing to share my French transcription passes. There are three passes, and are fairly consistent with each other.

Yeah, sort of.

All but a few of the lines were painful to figure out. For example, (spoilers):

Spoiler: That is not how she says goodbye. That is not how they say goodbye. That is not how they say goodbye (to each other) [reflexive/reciprocal, as in, "they're all our enemies, can't you tell they're trying to lure us out?"] That is not how you say goodbye [as in, "you're not playing the game right, you're supposed to say it differently." C'est pas comme ça qu'elle se dit au revoir. C'est pas comme ça qu'ils disent au revoir. C'est pas comme ça qu'ils se disent au revoir. I went on a little research to figure out the difference between the verbs DIRE and SE DIRE (reflexive). Interesting, it can mean a lot. I used all the whisper passes, even even tried writing down what I heard: C'est pas comme ça qu'ils se disent au revoir (au revoir shortened, like how I'd say "g'bye"). ------------------------------------------------------------------ Bien évidemment, ils ne nous se cachent pas. Évidemment, sinon on ne se cacherait pas. Bien évidemment, ils ne nous cacheront pas. Of course, they're not hiding from us. --- what I chose. doesn't really make sense as a response, though. Other options: Of course, otherwise we wouldn't be hiding. ---- this one would make sense. Of course, they wouldn't hide us. It is whispered and quickly spoken, and I just listened to it over and over until I had written down what I thought I was hearing, and I tried my best to get something meaningful from it. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Il plonge pour les accrocher tout au fond. Ils plongent pour les accrocher tout au fond. Il plonge pour les accrocher tout au fond. Even with consistency across the passes, I cannot get a good translation with google or deepL. They say: "He dives in to hang them at the bottom." ("He takes the bags of body parts and dives into the water with them and takes them to the very bottom and hooks them at the sea floor somehow." Maybe!?) What I chose is one of the few lines that I think worked well. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Il m'a dit de couper un morceau. Most passes agreed with this. "He told me to cut a piece" (as in, she got to participate in choppin up some body parts). But she loses interest in the role playing right afterwards? Maintenant, l'allemand, tu vas tout avouer. Maintenant l'allemand, tu vas tout avouer. Non, sinon l'allemand, tu vas tout avouer. Despite two passes coming up up with "maintenant" (now), I don't hear it that way. Unless they have an abbreviated way to say it (can't blame them, extra syllables for a "hurry" kind of word), which is very possible, but I hear "non, sinon l'allemand". The alternative with "maintenant" is an interesting option: "Now, German, you will confess everything!" Or, she's worried her counterpart will admit everything to the guy they're spying on. Uhhg I spent a long time on this line. I must have tried to listen to it 30 times. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I almost gave up with the chatter by of the rock at the beach. I put SOME work into it, though.
