NIGHT457 MODERATOR EDIT: This thread is continued from the "Dust Bunny" thread, which I derailed because we do not have that movie here yet and so I can not talk about it easily. The discussion eventually turned from "Aliens" toward the very first posts at FLM. That is an interesting topic in itself, so I moved all the completely NON-"Dust Bunny" posts here.
Kids do not look at film ratings of course. The only question is if the parents care. The R rating suggests to me that the filmmakers were not really aiming at the children's market. Like that Sigourney Weaver R-Rated "Aliens" movie costarring a young girl was not a children's/family film but more of an action movie for teens and young adults.

Re: [REQ] Dust Bunny (2025)
I've always wanted to watch that aliens (1987?) film only because there was a young girl on the poster but I never did.. Probably because I never knew if she had much screentime or not
Oh and if i remember correctly, she's mute (I'm not too interested in films featuring mute/deaf children)

No, IIRC there's dialogue between her and Weaver's character.Moonee wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 4:11 pm

YOU * HAVE * NEVER * WATCHED * ALIENS ???!!!!??
One of the most fucking awesome action movies ever? Best if you can manage to watch on a larger screen if at all possible. Newt has tons of screentime maybe because so much of the cast gets killed off, and she is the entire reason I have seen the movie dozens of times. For a short bit she refuses to speak because she is traumatized. (Aliens cocooned and parasitized her family, after all.) Once Ripley manages to break through the ice, she talks plenty.

I totally agree to Night457!

Re: [REQ] Dust Bunny (2025)
Yet I don't rewatch action movies for the action, I need the relationship between Newt and Ripley. Shoot em ups are boring.
Other relationship movies: Leon, Man on Fire, Ajeossi.

Re: [REQ] Dust Bunny (2025)
But ALIEN is more a SciFi movie, isn't it?
Wasn't it ALIEN 3? I mean the film with the girl.
So many years has passed since I last watched it.

Re: [REQ] Dust Bunny (2025)
Alien (1979) is more a SciFi-Horror movie.
Aliens (1986) had Newt (the young girl) and the colonial marines and is often considered a Vietnam allegory.
Alien 3 (1992) is the bald lice prison movie that many "Aliens" fans loathed. (SPOILERS, I will not say why.)
The rest of the movies in the series are completely disposable.

AHH! You're right. (ALIENS)

It's just been far too long. I think some day I have to watch it again. Would be a good movie for Christmas Eve, wouldn't it?

Re: [REQ] Dust Bunny (2025)
Absolutely! And you can pair it with "Lethal Weapon" and "Die Hard" which actually take place at Christmas.
