Trojans spyware
guys!
I am really having a problem with my Anti virus protection. I am using three protection; Malwaresweeper (for spyware), Spybot (for spyware) and trendmicro (for Viruses). Before they were all working perfectly. My malwaresweeper detected trojan spyware and backdoor worm even the nugache. Malwaresweeper detected those three but the other two did not. Lately my antivirus was not working well. It could not update. I tried to reinstall the software and update it, it works fine. But as I shut down my PC and comeback the next day. The antivirus does not work anymore.
Do you have any sudjestion or advise to protect my pc? I even use the peer guardian for protect or detection of Malicious software.

Hello rotwilerblue
My current setup is:
AVG - viruses
adaware - spyware
Zonealarm (free version) - firewall
and of course PeerGuardian.
I find that Spybots updates are useless, so I hardly ever run that anymore.
Norton’s antivirus was the worst thing I have ever come across and yet so many poor saps have it thrust upon them when buying a computer package.
AVG rocks and you don’t have to pay for the same updates that Nortons charge you for, plus AVG uses up very little resources unlike the aforementioned.
My current setup above has served me well, and I have not experienced any problems in the many years iv used a PC.
And my current one has been running 24/7 for 3 years with two P2P progs running during all of that time.
That’s my suggestion

Re: Trojans spyware
I recommend Avast http://www.avast.com/ for antivirus
or nod32http://www.nod32.com.au/nod32/products/individual.html
firewall Kerio http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm
If you can find Sygate that was excellent but Symantec bought them out and promptly killed the company

can get it here...sodepetahi wrote:

http://www.tucows.com/preview/213160
although sometimes it clashes with Avast, dr watson decides to run and promptly takes up all processing power
ZoneAlarm works well with Avast
don't forget to check any new firewall you try here...
https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
to make sure you ae Stealth, just means if someone tries to probe your computer ports you dont send them any information back

Re: Trojans spyware
for all of your Suggestion, does my emule will affect the High ID I have if i use the firewall?
Re: Trojans spyware
Firewall often cause of lowid - just try turning it off and see if you then get highid. I allow a non-default port traffic both ways on external router/firewall, and all traffic on all ports both ways for e-mule - touch wood so far no poblems.
Download for free and run Ewido and see if it picks up some nasty stuff - it ispretty much best on market. You should update and immunize your spybot once weekly (usually updates are there for Sunday morning), and same for AdAware. I run auto scan by AV and spybot nightly, and manually adaware once weekly.
Finally,it does sound as if you have an infection, get hold of HiJack and run this as well to see if you have ay strange processes running. If you download process monitor from sysinternals, you can check ALL processes including those running under the svchost process (quite often viruses create rogue processes under svchsot, or create a rogue similarly named process to svchost).

Re: Trojans spyware
So how did you get on with the advice ? Did you try the Ewido ?
Latest thing I have noticed is that cracks now generally use an installer - this will invariably try to install a trojan at the same time, and that is where you need something which continually monitors your system (Spybot Tea Timer is excellent, or you can pay for the EWido protection). I just had two attempts to do this and simply killed the process automatically - simple but in these days, VITAL.
Hope this is useful advice.

Re: Trojans spyware
Ewido is nice, but I just don't have the money to buy. Besides I am using Trend Micro as my anti-virus and I had experience of conflict between the two. So I use Trend Micro Anti spyware instead.
Thanks for the concern!
cheers!

Re: Trojans spyware
Hi RWB
EWido can be used FOC for scanning say once weekly, and can also be updated manually FOC. I use it once a week to do a deep check on my system (update first of course) - really can find deep rooted stuf such as diallers.
Other thing is Spybot 1.3 - I use to run a scan (customised) in early hours, but also run TeaTimer in the background to monitor any attempted accesses to registry and/or changes to system files. Very often when browsing, it will detect and kill an attempted change (for example) to host file. Also can be used to view what you have automatically starting (and disable if necessary), view what helpers you have loaded (for example I have helpers for AtGuard firewall, Adobe and Flashget) - will show you if it believes something should not be there, and a host of other things - quite honestly indispensible - and completely FOC ! (you can, as I did make a small donation to the design team).
If you need any help on anyof these PM me and we can sort it out. I will be happy to help.

Re: Trojans spyware
zone labs does a free anvirus trial with firewall .very good. so before trial expires download again but dont open. then disconect from internet and delete old zonelab from computer. then install new zonelabs. hey presto free forever.
