Confused....
eMule is already confusing enough and I suck at computers. Until last night I was able to download from eMule. Not sure what happened, but a block of text popped up and said something along the lines of "remote IP address(insert number here) is trying to contact your computer, would you like to block it?" Well, I chose yes and think that's where I messed up. Tried to uninstall and reinstall it and see if that would do anything but it didn't. The message I've been getting since last night is Fatal Error while trying to connect. Internet connection may be down. I'm completely lost, help please?
Re: Confused....
That doesn't sound like it's emule, it sounds like the popup and subsequent connection problems are due to your firewall. What firewall do you have?
Re: Confused....
So your Internet is working otherwise right ?
OK so which application brought the warning message ? Have you had this before in other applications ? Anything in your event logs (particularly application log) for that time ?
If this was your ISP then I would expect Internet down full stop. Have a look at your firewall and make sure that your firewall is at least allowing tcp traffic for the port you have specified, both inbound and outbound. Then go to do the connection test within emule and let us know result.

The Fatal Error while trying to connect. Internet connection may be down message is displayed at the bottom of the screen when I run eMule. Yes, it's not an ISP problem, my connection is fine.
I found this in the log

I found this in the log
4/28/2007 12:05:02 PM Error while connecting to DonkeyServer No3 Error 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Re: Confused....
Looks like you have been banned - check the emule documentation on this - a number of reasons why that can happen.
Re: Confused....
Only connect to the KAD network. It's working perfect and it's a little more secure. You don't need servers, which can be logged!DarkIntellect wrote:The Fatal Error while trying to connect. Re: Confused....
Iv just started using KAD.
Just click the KAD button at the top of the main window, then click bootstrap.
Don’t ask me what it all means, I just know it works.
File searching is strange using KAD. For some reason the first word must have more than two letters, and I don’t think you can use a hyphen either.
On the upside, searches can bring you more results than what is usually around the 300 mark.

Re: Confused....
Do you REALLY get betterresults from KAD ? Is there ay evidence of this ? I reckon by tweaking the parameters, I can find about 70% of what I look for - is that figure higher in KAD ?
