Rumor: Dakota Fanning in Talks for 'New Moon'?
Since I know better than anybody the wrath of a Twilight fan scorned, I'm just going to get straight to the point: Marc Malkin over at E! has reported that Dakota Fanning has been offered the role of Jane in the upcoming sequel, New Moon.
Malkin writes, "I can exclusively report that the 14-year-old child
star-she turns 15 on Feb. 23-is in talks to play Jane opposite Robert
Pattinson & Co. in New Moon." Oh, there's more -- not
only did Malkin drop the bomb about Ms. Fanning joining in on the
angst, but according to his source "There were no auditions, they just
offered it to her outright, and now they're in negotiations. They've
been going back and forth."
New Moon will center on Bella (Kristen Stewart) dealing with the abrupt departure of Edward Cullen (Robert Pattison),
but she is soon drawn back into the world of things that go 'bump in
the night' (enter a bitter and sadistic little bloodsucker named Jane).
In a recently leaked casting notice, Jane was described as "blonde with
a "Botticelli angel-like face...[and] crimson irises. While fellow
Vulture guards Demetrio & Felix are three times the size of her,
they are terrified of her." I don't know about you, but I actually
think that Fanning could pull this off.
For once, though, it looks like fans could be happy with the role going to Fanning, and there was even an online petition created by fans demanding Summit give Fanning the role -- then again, there's an online petition for anything
these days. One thing is for sure: if Fanning does sign on, I think
fans can feel a lot more confident in her acting chops than in some of
the other names that have been tossed around.
So
now I leave the floor to the fans: sound off below and tell us what you
think about Ms. Fanning taking over as one of the baddest Volturi on the block...

Re: NEW MOON (OFFICIAL)!
Well, that actually remains to be seen, cg1... I think she's one of the best child actresses to come down the pike in years.charlottegainsbourg1 wrote:...no she isnt better as a little kid.
Hopefully she doesn't tread the path of other child stars [Lindsay Lohan of recent]; and DOES fulfill the promising potential she shows. I would LOVE to see her make the role transitions from child to adult without her real life going into a tailspin...
kev.
