Re: [REL] Le nouveau monde (1995)
Is there a 1080p or 4K version?

Tampermonkee released a lovely 20.8 GiB 2160p H265 version on TNT.

[Code] Two download sources for the 6 RARs that extract to my 1080p version. You can use some RARs from MEGA and some from pixeldrain if needed. There is no password. [Code] OR [Code] [Image]

Challenge accepted! THANK you for the work you did. I resynced your English subtitles for my own version, which has optional French subtitles for the French dialog and hardcoded French subtitles for the Engish dialog. (All the versions I found here, at TNT, and on emule have the hardcoded subtitles.) I also machine-translated the optional French subtitles. Your Italian machine-translation to English read more naturally than my French one did. I compared and combined both machine-translations and referred to online sources like DeepL to improve the translation and make it more natural. I also corrected all the English dialog so that it matched what they actually said!Night457 wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 7:09 pm The movie has both French and English dialog, with French hardsubs during the English parts. The Italian subtitle - which is the only subtitle I can find online - translates both the French and the English.

Since the English dialog was translated to Italian and then machine translated to English, the meaning is the same but the words are different. I did NOT correct that part of it.
...
Anyone who wants to is welcome to post further corrections.
French subtitles-for-French, ripped from tampermonkee's 2160p file & also synced to my 1080p: |
English subtitles .ASS & .SRT synced to the 2160p & 1080p versions: |
The .ASS English subtitles have a black border around them to cover up the French hardsubtitles as much as possible. They look like this in VLC:

Gandolfini was actually "only" 33 at the time. (He died in 2013 at age 51.) I am used to seeing him play scary-charming characters and this role was no exception.DaveTheBoss wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2024 3:26 pm ...Sarah Grappin who celebrated her 16th birthday during filming. I hate to nitpick his age. Sarah Grappin's character Marie-José was still involved with an older man, it seems because she was trying to make her clueless and also-unfaithful boyfriend Patrick jealous. It worked.
Terrific movie! This was my first viewing. I am glad I was able to have an undertanding of all the dialog.

About Sarah Grappin, she kisses quite passionately in this movie, both with her boyfriend and James Gandolfini, a real French kiss
Maybe in the movie and during filming, she taught him French kissing

Joséphine Serre (who plays the character in the beginning) is surprisingly good at passionate kissing for an 11 year old. I wonder if her costar's look of surprise was in the script, or because she went above and beyond what the scene required?
Too bad James Gandolfini died so young. At least he got some love here from Sarah. Bada bing, bada boom!
By the way, thanks to citronleaf for posting the 4K version - much appreciated!!!
